Our role at the California Virtue is to document the best, most interesting, and most relevant of our new era's art.

There is no "global community" -- and yet there is, and their vapid, predictable art fills every global city's major galleries and museums. Globalist aesthetics are of no interest to us. Art that is of everywhere is of nowhere.

California is our geographic scope. Timeframe is the now.

Our mission is to write about modern art made in California, California artists, and the creative scene that inspires us.

Why now? We all live in the moment. The Lockdowns of 2020-22 was the archetypical mother of all dividing lines. Not since the atom was split in FDR's 1940s has there been such a clear divide between the world that was and the era that will be.

Why California? This is the land where the future comes first. California is the front lines of whatever new world order we are living in. More so than Boston, Chicago, D.C., or New York, here we have both the center of modern industry, the cultural forges driving the conversation, and a one party political system in which the old era's purest vision of itself is manifested.

Purity is good.

Aesthetic accelerationism.

Towards wherever we are going: We will get there first.
